Geoff in UN-Habitat Global Urban Lecture series

The United Nations has just released Geoff’s lecture on land tenure and property rights as part of the UN-Habitat Global Urban Lecture series. You can see it on their website.

The lecture distills 30 years of international experience on land tenure issues to provide a short, non-technical review of concepts, issues, methods and policy examples.

Geoff hopes the lecture will be useful for students, practitioners and policy makers and would be happy to receive feedback.

GPA Report on Security of Tenure for the United Nations

The GPA report “Holding On: Security of Tenure – Types, Policies, Practices and Challenges” which was commissioned by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, was formally approved in February, 2013. The report was prepared by Geoff Payne and Alain Durand-Lasserve and revised following its presentation at an Expert Group Meeting in Geneva in October, 2012. Expert group meeting on evictions in Naples

Geoff was invited by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Affordable Housing to participate in an Expert Group Meeting in Naples during 06-07 September on forced evictions and displacement. The meeting was attended by representatives from international development agencies, NGOs, community based organisations (CBOs), academics and consultants.
